This is an awesome way for you to take a health break at work. Let’s see, by eating less and moving more we have a formula for success. Take a 10, 15 or 30 minute break each day to increase your work performance and health. Grab your Balance Walking Poles and walk 1 mile at a good clip and get the benefits of almost 2 miles of regular walking.

Be part of this next wave, the time is right… In the past 6months, we have been asked to present in countless venues, completed one favorable research study and with another on the way. We are also building a coach and walk leader network; became a major corporate sponsor with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other health organizations.

Also recently we have developed initiatives that all began by simply sharing with each organization the benefits and the vision of Balance Walking as a way of living healthy. This has open many great collaborative works.

And more to come…

Now that winter is here, nature is ready to sleep. Yet, for Balance Walking it’s simply a change of gears. Maybe join or form a new Meetup group (www.meetup.com), do indoor walking in malls, on tracks or long hallways, even using a parking garage which would protect you from bad weather.

This time of year we find less daylight after work, colder days, reasons to stay inside, reason to over eat, we have less time for ourselves, and that’s just the beginning. Yikes. At the same time many of us are looking to make a change by committing to get started on an exercise program and or diets that began on Jan 1st.

Come join Us in events like these below. Remember, we can help you form your own group. Ask your questions in an email to info@balancewalking.com.

12 wk Training Season with TEAM BELIEVE to RACEWALK to the FINISH LINE

Introduction: Hi, I’m Coach Chrissy, Founder & Coach of Team Believe
Ever thought about participating in a Half Marathon? This is your chance with Team Believes 12 week Training Season. Starts on February 20, 2011 and each Sunday at 8am at either West Lake Village or Thousand Oaks.

It doesn’t matter how old you are or what shape you’re in.

With Team Believe you will:

Receive support to achieve goals you never thought possible.
Get in shape and have the time of your life!
Make new friends and wear a medal to be proud of
Become the athlete that you want to be
Believe in yourself – One Mile at a Time

I can get you to the finish line! After all, I did it when they said I couldn’t. Let me share my story as I am sure this will encourage you to join us.

In the 1980s I was in a serious car accident which left me pretty broken up from head to toe. Along with skull fractures, the loss of my memory and vision for a few months, internal injuries and broken bones my knees were permanently damaged. I was told that I may never walk again. After about 4 years of recovery I was walking, running, down hill skiing – you name it! I have learned how to overcome obstacles, make my body strong and most importantly, to believe in myself.

I have learned race walking from the best, Tim Seaman – a 2 time Olympian. I will teach you race walking technique that will get you to a finish line quickly, efficiently and healthy. I have completed over 25 full marathons all over the country and over 40 half marathons. In the last 10 years, I have coached at least 1000 to the finish line, most of which were first timers. My marathon race walking PR is 5:27:37.

I am a certified personal fitness trainer, weight loss coach, motivational speaker and a singer/songwriter.”

Foot Solutions – Cash for Calories & Balance Walking
Introduction: Now that the guilt of the Thanksgiving feast has set in, and the anticipation of Holiday indulgence is in full effect, many are making weight loss resolutions for the coming year. To help their customers keep these resolutions and live healthier, Foot Solutions of Estero is presenting the Cash for Calories Challenge. Through this program, participants will be paid $5 in store credit for every pound they lose over a three month period, from January – March 2011.
Date: Participants must register by December 31, 2010 and if you missed this date call and we will see how we can get you started.
“We realize that the holidays can bring an aftermath of guilt for people who are trying to stay in shape, or trying to lose weight,” said Chris Cole, owner of Foot Solutions of Estero. “We hope that the Cash for Calories program will encourage people to start the year off with a goal of health and fitness.”
To help customers with their fitness goals, Foot Solutions facilitates Balance Walking classes, which meet twice a week at the Estero Park. The classes incorporate Balance Walking poles, which burn twice as many calories as walking. In addition, Foot Solutions also features various fitness product lines, such as Brooks, New Balance, MBT, and Chung Shi ‘toning’ shoes, which tone and tighten muscles.
Another Class Starts
Remember, Balance walking is a fantastic exercise which uses Nordic Walking poles to simulate the motions of cross country skiing, minus the snow,” said Chris Cole, owner of Foot Solutions in Estero. “We initiated these classes to provide people the opportunity to practice Balance Walking in a social setting. Participants will also have an instructor on hand to ensure that they are doing it correctly and receiving the maximum benefits.”
Balance walking increases calorie burning by 50% compared to walking, allowing people to cut their workout time in half. It also significantly reduces stress to knees, hips, and back, and strengthens core muscles, helping to tone abs, buttocks and the back.
Balance Walking group classes meet at the Estero Park on Corkscrew Road every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:30am – 10am. The classes are $5 per class or $20 per month, and are appropriate for all ages and skill levels.
Location:
Foot Solutions

Corner of Corkscrew Road and U.S. 41 (next to Publix)

Meetup – Get Out and Get Active with Balance Walking

Introduction: Okay, it’s been a few weeks, time to get you interested again!

Come out and join me Tuesday morning, 8:00, in Brier Creek Commons. We meet in front of the Maggie Moo’s Treatery (sorry, they aren’t open for snacks so early) which is right next to the Brier Creek Cinemas. I will have loaner poles for anyone who needs to borrow them, so an RSVP would help me keep count on the number needed.

We walk from our meeting site, back to the office buildings, towards the hotels and around the front along Brier Creek Parkway to BJ’s, then back to our cars. About 30 minutes.

I am also interested in finding alternative times and locations that will be more convenient for our members. I will be adding a poll to the Meetup site to encourage your feedback.

In the meantime, join me by calling and getting started.
